Dedicated to helping children get the support they need to achieve their potential

I am a Consultant Community Paediatrician. I have worked in the NHS since 1993 and privately since 2003. In 2019 I moved to full-time private practice, with a clear emphasis on working within NICE guidelines.

My practice provides advice, assessment and diagnosis for children with developmental and behavioural difficulties, including speech and language delay, learning difficulties, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social communication disorders such as autism. My focus is always to define and support a child’s needs rather than to prioritise a label.¹

In addition to assessment and diagnosis, I provide guidance to help each child receive appropriate support, achieve their potential and maintain their emotional wellbeing. This includes advice on how to request suitable educational provision and encourage effective multi-agency collaboration. I also support children with anxiety, including emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), fussy eating and sleep difficulties, as well as families going through Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments.

I help diagnose developmental coordination disorder in conjunction with an occupational therapy assessment, along with other difficulties such as sensory processing disorders. Many of my assessments are carried out jointly with other professionals, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists and educational psychologists, and I greatly value reports from others involved with the child, such as schools.

I am qualified to carry out Griffiths developmental assessments, the Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (DISCO) and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS).

I see children and young people face to face at Kingston Private Health, Kingston Hospital. I am registered with most major insurance companies.

Thanks also for guiding me in the quagmire that is SEND when your child has complex needs and no-one is listening!
